ESDECS plays the role of technical knowledge and implementation partner to the Education to Employability (E2E) Project, a unique intervention conceptualised by Vikramshila Education Resource Society (Vikramshila). It has reached out to 200 government and government aided schools and covers nearly 30,000 students across 20 districts of West Bengal. The project aims at bridging the ‘aspiration-capability’ gap of students of classes IX and X by imparting ‘Employability Skills’ training to equip them to make informed career choices on completion of school education.
The project is a joint intervention of Vikramshila and ESDECS and receives support from Department of School Education, Govt of West Bengal (PBRMSA), Unicef and other CSR entities.
The highlights of the intervention include imparting modules on Social and Interpersonal Skills, Communicative English & Soft Skills, Adolescent Issues including Physical and Emotional Well being, Career Skills, Digital Literacy and Financial Literacy. Students are taken through psychometric assessments and based on the outcomes of the assessment; they are guided towards possible career options suited to their academic performance and general interests.
